 * rendered.  A theme for a \ref SevenSegmentDigit or \ref FourteenSegmentDigit omly
 * needs to contain a glyph for the digit, and a glyph for the punctuation.

 * much faster (generally) at runtime.  The inverse is true for segmented digits.
